The Mission of the Wyoming CASA Network is to collaborate with the existing CASA Programs and facilitate the establishment of new Programs throughout the state to promote and support quality volunteer advocacy to ensure every abused and neglected child victim has a safe, permanent home and the opportunities to thrive.
For over five years, the WY CASA Network was an informal but dedicate group of the five Executive Directors of the five local CASA Programs. This group included: Chandra Ortiz, Executive Director of CASA of Natrona County; Carol Tullio, Executive Director of CASA of Laramie County; Ellen Klym, Executive Director of CASA of the 5th Judicial District; Pamela Rucki, Executive Director of CASA for the Sixth Judicial District; and Susan L. Carr, Executive Director of Compass Center for Families (formerly known as Child Advocacy Services of the Big Horns). These Executive Directors realized the state needed a more formal state organization to support the established individual CASA programs and to nurture new CASA programs.
The Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of Wyoming and approved on June 20, 2016. In addition, the application for the 501(c)(3) filing with the Federal Government was submitted on July 5, 2016 and has been approved.
Executive Director Jennifer Childs was hired on March 1, 2017, and set to work developing the Wyoming CASA Network Board of Directors. In April 2017, that goal was accomplished, and great men and women from around the state took on the challenge of becoming the first governing board for the state organization.
While all these things have been accomplished in a few month, there is much to do in the future. The abused and neglected children of Wyoming are depending on all of us to be their voice. It is vital that a CASA Program be established and supported in every county in Wyoming.
